Often called Mississippi's Grandma Moses of Stitchery,
Ethel Wright Mohamed used her talent of beautiful and intricate stitchery
to depict the history of the Mississippi Delta
and life styles from the 1600's to 1970's.

She created intricate scenes from the landing of the Mayflower
to the 1974 Folklife Festival in Washington D.C.

Her pictures radiate an awareness of contentment and belonging.
